Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. She was named by her parents for the town where she grew up. Michel Horowitz' father was editor and author along with Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder's father came from the Jewish family. Ryder considers herself Jewish. Ryder also has a half-sister, Sunyata Jubal. Her older sister is Uria. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County to California, when she was just 7 years old. They didn't have electricity. Ryder would read extensively due to the lack of television. Ryder was enrolled in acting classes when Ryder was twelve years old, at the American Conservatory Theatre. Lucas the film, which was released in 1986, was her first major part. Ryder was only fifteen when she landed the role. Ryder had to deal with bullying throughout her teenage years. Ryder hoped the acting profession would change this. Sadly, this didn't occur. Still she continued pursuing her dreams. It was 1988 in the year Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that gave her her first big break. Ryder played successful roles for several films. Ryder was nominated twice for Academy Awards one for her performance on The Age of Innocence (1993).
