Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. Buss is the founder and president of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is a California native, and was raised by an affluent family. Jerry Buss, her father, was an entrepreneur with a real estate business who later eventually became the proprietor of Lakers Sports and Entertainment. In 1972, her parents split up and she felt emotionally left out. When she was 19 years old, she joined the family's business as general manager for the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. After that, she established an organization called the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. The position she held was president of Great Western Forum prior to becoming the vice-president of Lakers. Buss and her siblings, five brothers and sisters and their father who was the owner of the Lakers and was their controlling shareholder until his death in 2013, took over the ownership via the trust. The five siblings were entitled to equal vote rights. She assumed her duties as the president of Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also owner of a portion of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling organization).
